About

Welcome to my blog! I am Sarah and I own The Duchess of Lightning. I created this blog for her, because she is an extremely unique, talented pony and the accumulation of a lifetime of loving the Chincoteague Pony. She consistently amazes me in her ability to learn and her good nature about anything I ask of her. Enjoy the blog and please subscribe!

Sarah, I can’t begin to express how happy I am about the great home that you have given to Pie. The bond that you have created with her is one that I could only dream would happen to all the ponies I sell. Thank you again for the devotion you have to the breed and giving Pie the chance to be all that she can be.

Hi Sarah, my name is Laura and I live in California. I just happen to be visiting my brother and his family in Wichita Falls,Texas. I read your column in this mornings news paper while packing to head back home. I only wished I had read your story while flying into Dallas on the 8th because I would have headed right over to Park Place Christian Church to meet you and Moon Pie πŸ™‚ ….. Your story is very inspiring to continue to pursue our childhood dreams.

    Stay blessed!

Sarah, what a wonderful story. Two years ago I wrote about my Chincoteague, Virginia Island Rose that was published in a magazine.. She has been an absolute treasure to own, Not being of the younger set myself… actually I am 66, I have fulfilled a dream I never new I had. .. even learning to ride! She is a pure joy.. My hope is that we inspire others that all things are possible no matter what the age. Her story can be found by googling her name and then pulling up the Cyber Saddle.
Best wishes … we are so lucky to own such a special breed.

Hi, I was wondering if your Chincoteague pony was purchased at the Chincoteague Pony Auction and if so, when. I publish http://www.wildponytales.info. We have been covering the start up of Chincoteague Pony Rescue and following all that it does.

Hi… Ginny Rose was puchased from the auction in 2004.. What I discovered ..is that on the DVD done by the Assateague Explorer, she is in it with her mom.. Island Breeze, standing on the shore looking right at the camera.
I did have the good fortune of being on the island when they did the spring round up a few years ago and we got to “meet” her dad… Surfer Dude. Such a wonderful experience that was, the whole round up. I did not attend the auction but bought her at age 9 months from a woman that could no longer afford the board. What a wonderful experience this has been. I’ve spent hours with her so she is quite the social butterfly… loves people and other horses…
PS.. I am getting better at riding too.. yoga keeps me flexable and balanced.
Such an amazing breed they are and what a privilege to own a beautiful piece of history.

Hi Sarah! Love your blog! Very inspirational. I actually wrote down this quote of yours:
“I’ve found that there are very mysterious forces at work in our world and when things are meant to happen, they happen and it is up to us to recognize the opportunity being presented and seize it.”
I’m going to read it often and be reminded that we should ‘seize the day’ on our dreams, even in our crazy busy lives. Like yours, my childhood dreams involved Chincoteague ponies, and as an adult, I’m hoping to make it come true. Your blog gave me hope!
I was wondering if I could write you an email with some specific questions? My email is pckush@gmail.com.
    Thanks! πŸ™‚

Hi Sarah! Thanks for getting back to me! Before I spew off into what is probably an entirely too long email, can you just verify if this is the correct address to reply to? I’m not sure if this will be lost in blog-space when I reply to it, or if it’ll go directly to you. Thanks! Pam
